Detailed guide
How to use the public-holiday compensation
Calculate a potential holiday credit
Selected weekdays define when work would normally take place. Each applicable holiday on one of those days is multiplied by the entered hours per working day. The result is a transparent modelled time credit for the selected range.
If two applicable holidays fall on personal workdays and eight daily hours are entered, the calculator displays 16 potential credit hours. Holidays on days that are normally free are not included.
Apply regional holidays correctly
Depending on the country, holidays may apply only in a state, canton, province or municipality. Selecting a region narrows the scope. Without a region, the calculation includes nationwide holidays only.
The result list names the date, holiday and territorial scope. It can be checked against a roster or time account. Several holiday records on the same date still represent only one missed working day.
Not an automatic legal entitlement
The displayed value is a calendar model. Whether continued pay, a time credit, premium pay or substitute leave is actually due depends on employment law, contract, collective agreement and the planned shift.
The tool is therefore not payroll software or legal advice. It provides an auditable starting figure for a more specific discussion with payroll, employee representatives or qualified advisers.
