Why Easter moves each year
Easter has no fixed Gregorian calendar date. Easter Sunday is determined as the first Sunday after the ecclesiastical full moon associated with the spring equinox, placing it between March 22 and April 25. The calculator applies the Gregorian Easter algorithm to the selected year.
Other dates follow with fixed offsets: Good Friday is two days before Easter Sunday, Easter Monday one day after, Ascension 39 days after, Pentecost Sunday 49 days after and Corpus Christi 60 days after.
Distinguishing holidays from observances
The list includes religious dates that are not statutory public holidays everywhere. Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday are important in the church calendar but are not general days off in many countries. Corpus Christi also applies only in certain countries or regions.

Planning around Easter and Pentecost
Movable dates influence school breaks, travel, events and workplace planning. Since they change every year, a multi-year overview is useful for long-term projects. Country calendars from 2026 through 2050 connect them with other holidays and ISO weeks.
Some Orthodox churches calculate Easter using a different calendar basis. The dates shown here follow the Western Gregorian Easter calculation and should not be used as an Orthodox calendar.
