Why public holidays can depend on location
In addition to nationwide holidays, some dates only apply in particular states, cantons, autonomous communities, provinces or municipalities. The finder therefore checks nationwide holidays first and adds entries that match the selected region.
A public holiday does not automatically mean every shop is closed or every person has the day off. Industry rules, collective agreements, local provisions and opening exceptions may change the practical outcome.
Does a weekend count as a public holiday?
No. A weekend and a statutory public holiday are different properties and are shown separately.
Is the result legally binding?
No. The responsible official authority is decisive for employment-law questions or official deadlines.
